About Landed in Penh

Find your feet. Find your people. Find your place.

Landed in Penh brings together practical guides, local discoveries and useful information to help people move to Phnom Penh, settle in and make the most of life in the city.

our story

Cambodia feels like home

There is something about life here that keeps drawing you in.

Phnom Penh has its own rhythm. The streets, the food, the people, the small everyday moments you do not always appreciate until you realise how much they have become part of your life.

We live here, and we have built our life here. Over time Cambodia stopped feeling like somewhere we were visiting and became somewhere we belong.

Living here is not always straightforward. Some of the simplest things take a little figuring out, and it can be hard to know where to start or who to trust. It rewards patience, flexibility and a willingness to learn, and we think it is worth it.

Landed in Penh grew out of a love for this place and a wish to make life here a little easier to navigate. We share what we have learnt, point you to reliable information and help you find the people, places and everyday experiences that make Phnom Penh feel like home.

Whether you are planning a move, finding your feet or simply trying to work something out, we are here to help you feel a little more at home in Penh.

Moving to Phnom Penh? Know it before you land.

The first month shapes how the rest of the move feels. Everything here is built to make it calmer.

where we are heading

More than a relocation guide

Today, the core of Landed in Penh is practical guidance for people planning a move. Alongside it we publish What's on in Penh, a weekly guide to events, exhibitions and things worth getting out for.

Over time we would like it to become a place you open every week, long after the move is done. That could include interviews with people who support the expat community and useful local services. If we ever list or recommend a business, we will say how we chose it. We will not call anyone verified, vetted or trusted without clear criteria, and any paid listing or referral fee will be labelled.

the rules we work by

Our promises

1

Official sources first

For visas, healthcare, education and employment we point you to the official source and explain the limits of what we know.

2

Experience is labelled

We say clearly when something is our own experience and when it is an official requirement.

3

Dates you can see

Every guide shows when it was published and when it was last updated.

4

No pay to play

We take no referral or recruitment fees from agents or businesses, and nobody can buy a place in a guide.

5

Disclosure

If a link ever earns us something, we say so beside the link.

6

Corrections welcome

If something is wrong or out of date, tell us. We fix it and note the change.

about Landed in Penh

Quick answers

Is Landed in Penh legal or immigration advice?

No. Our guides are general information based on research and experience. Always confirm visa, tax and legal requirements with the relevant official source or a licensed professional.

Do you only cover Phnom Penh?

Phnom Penh is the focus because it is where we live. We may cover more of Cambodia later.

How do you choose what to write about?

We research what people search for and ask about, start with what our audience survey said was hardest to find reliable answers on, and use topic votes and reader questions to decide what comes next.

Do you cover schools?

Phnom Penh has a wide range of schools, from local and bilingual schools to international schools following British, American and International Baccalaureate programmes. We do not review or compare schools, so speak to schools directly and visit before you decide.

Can I suggest an event for What's on?

Yes. Use the Add an event form on the What's on page. Every submission is reviewed by a person before anything is listed, and sending one does not guarantee publication. We do not sell placement in our guides or in What's on.

How do you make money?

Today the guides and checklist are free. In future we may offer a paid relocation pack or use disclosed affiliate links. We never take referral or recruitment fees from agents or businesses.
